Jairo Alvarez

Copenhagen, Denmark

Through my work, I explore my inner and show my point of view about society and my surroundings. I attempt to create photographs with an atmosphere in which the chronological time is not defined, but at the same time refer to everyday situations. Most of my work is done before the photograph is taken, which allows me to portray my ideas more faithfully and authentically. I seek to create a space where everything is possible, where the everyday mixes with the oniric, the rational with the irrational, convinced that there are so many realities as interpreters.

responsibility:

The duties of a fine art portrait photographer include capturing images of clients in a studio or any type of setting. As a photographer, my responsibilities involve assessing each client's needs and preparing the studio and photography equipment accordingly. This includes setting up cameras, lighting, and backdrops to ensure optimal conditions for capturing images. During the session, I guide and pose individuals or groups for each shot, carefully evaluating each picture to ensure it meets both the client's requirements and my own quality standards. Additionally, editing photos may be part of the job. Portrait photographers may capture images for various purposes, including personal, professional, or commercial use by clients.

Tripod

A three-legged stand used to stabilize a camera during photography. By reducing camera shake and providing a steady platform, tripods enable longer exposures, sharper images, and precise composition. They are particularly useful in low-light situations, macro photography, and situations where the camera needs to remain stationary.

Geometric Lined Studio Light

Artificial light

artificial lighting equipment, such as studio lights, strobes, continuous lights, or speedlights. These light sources provide more control over the direction, intensity, and color of the light. Photographers can adjust the placement of lights, use light modifiers like reflectors, diffusers, or umbrellas, and manipulate the light's color temperature to achieve the desired lighting effect.

film camera

film camera is a type of camera that uses photographic film to capture images. Unlike digital cameras that use electronic sensors, film cameras rely on a light-sensitive film that reacts to light exposure. The film is loaded into the camera, and when the shutter is released, light passes through the lens and exposes the film to create a latent image.

Marketing

In my marketing plan, I will leverage the power of social media, specifically Instagram, to promote my work. Instagram provides a vast and diverse audience worldwide, and numerous artists have successfully grown their pages and businesses on this platform. Therefore, I intend to create a public Instagram page that serves as a portfolio showcasing my work.

strategies

To initially gain followers as a new account, I will strategically follow established individuals within the photography community in my area. This will not only help me establish connections but also provide valuable inspiration on how to structure my posts and engage in activities that resonate with the audience. Once I have set up my account and contact information, I will regularly share my work and employ popular hashtags to increase visibility and reach.

In addition to organic growth strategies, I am willing to allocate a budget to collaborate with recognized Instagram accounts to promote my business. By having them mention or feature my work, I can tap into their existing follower base and expand my reach further. Furthermore, I will utilize Instagram's promotional features to enhance the visibility of my posts and make them go viral, thereby fostering valuable connections and improving networking opportunities.

Collaborations with other artists will also play a significant role in building connections within the industry. By partnering with fellow creatives, I can leverage their networks and collectively amplify our reach, thereby establishing fruitful relationships and increasing exposure for my work.

Market Research

1st year

In the initial year of my business, I won't set high goals and expectations for pricing. Instead, I will focus on improving my skills in my area of expertise, networking, collaborations, and growing my social media presence. Additionally, I will offer free photoshoots to expand my portfolio. Considering my limited experience and the investment I have made in my equipment, my aim is to cover the expenses associated with my equipment and the time I spend, especially since my schedule won't be very busy. However, I will offer a 20% discount for clients' first shoots.

Based on my market research and anticipated client base, I aim to generate a specific amount in revenue. Taking into account that I will charge $70 per hour for a one-hour shoot and considering the limited number of customers I expect in my first year, I estimate earning around $350 per week. This translates to a monthly salary of $1,517, amounting to approximately $20,000 for my first year.

5th year

In my 5th year, I anticipate gaining more experience and having a sufficient budget to expand my business. With the ability to invest in additional equipment and promotional activities, I aim to increase my revenue threefold compared to the previous year. Specifically, I aspire to generate $60,000 in annual revenue by the end of the second year.

Looking further ahead, my long-term goal is to continue growing my business and building a strong client base. By implementing effective marketing strategies, delivering high-quality services, and staying abreast of industry trends, I aim to achieve $60,000 in revenue annually by the end of the fifth year. This projection represents a steady and sustainable growth trajectory for my business.

10th year

In my tenth year of business, my goal is to generate $100,000 in revenue as an experienced and professional photographer specializing in portrait studio photography. This salary range is based on industry standards, which typically range from $18,000 to $127,500 per year. By providing high-quality services and leveraging my expertise, I aim to establish a successful and profitable photography business while offering valuable experiences to my clients.
